Genesis. A book of the new beginning. A new hope for a people who had failed. Across the whole book of Genesis we see failure, then God’s work of redemption.

In Genesis the stage is set for Jesus the Messiah to enter in and save the world. Where would we be without a hope that goes past this life and into eternity.

We have all messed up, and are all in need of saving. Jesus is our only hope to be brought back into right relationship with God. In Genesis we see that we were created to be face-to-face with Him. This need is still as true for us today as it was for Adam and Eve. The need goes deep and if we put our focus on anything else, we will be left wanting. We will never feel that lasting, complete, full, at peace feeling outside of Jesus.

“I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!” Psalms‬ ‭27‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭

Noah had this type of relationship with God. He walked in obedience long before God asked him to build a boat the size of one and a half football fields. No doubt it was likely only Noah and his sons who were working on the project. Can you imagine how overwhelming that must have been. The task was great. Daunting. Taunting from the people must have been just as great as the task. They had never even seen rain, how could Noah talk of a great flood? He looked past the natural, what others said, what could be seen, and trusted the One who spoke the word to him. God‘s voice was louder than the people.

When we doubt, when things do not look like how we thought they would, armor up with the truth of who God is and what he has promised you.

“He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭91‬:‭4‬ ‭

“A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.”Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭10‬-‭18‬ ‭
